I just saw the segment on CBS Evening News about the amount of homework the younger kids have. It sounds like it is pretty oppressive. What are there so many projects? Can't kids sit in a classroom and learn stuff from lecture and memorization? I majored in mathematics and I never thought memorizing addition and multiplication tables was fun - only necessary. Who needs school to be interesting, students or teachers?
